Boston homes selling quicker than those nationwide

by Elizabeth Kanzeg

Homes in Boston sell more quickly than homes in other metro areas, according to research by Clever Real Estate.

Nationwide, homes typically stay on the market for 37 days, compared to just 21 days in Boston. Boston ranks as the 6th-fastest selling metro area in the U.S.

Boston home sales increased 3.24% from 2023 to 2024, with homes fetching a median price of $716,000. Low inventory in Boston might contribute to the market’s high prices, but buyers aren’t deterred — possibly because Bostonians have the fifth-highest median salary nationwide at $110,697.

With low inventory, high prices and motivated buyers, sellers currently hold the power in Boston’s market.
