Markese Daise Markese Daise, Real Estate Broker | CEO, Stony Brook & Lennox Realty Advisors, Boston

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? My most interesting job before going into real estate was actually working as a corporate accountant at a Class-A commercial real estate firm that built skyscrapers. This job actually sparked my initial interest in real estate. Although I am on the other side of the coin these days; I transitioned skills such as investment analysis, budget planning, tax strategies, risk management and property valuation into my current business.

Where did you grow up? Boston.

Growing up, what did you want to be? As a young kid growing up, I always aspired to be a “businessman” in the broadest sense. I knew I wanted to be someone who influenced change in people’s lives, run a thriving business and wear nice suits.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I do not really get stressed, however, hitting a few golf balls on a nice day serves to be quite relaxing.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? If I had the opportunity to meet a living public figure, my choice would be sports agent Rich Paul. Rich’s track record in negotiating some of the most substantial and groundbreaking sports contracts aligns closely with the principles I uphold in my own business. These shared values encompass business acumen, innovation, mentorship and unwavering client advocacy. I would relish the chance to engage in a conversation with him, delving into the intricacies of his business operations and exchanging insights, given our common strategies.

What is Boston’s best-kept secret? The golf course at Franklin Park. One of the best-manicured courses in the city.

What do you love most about the industry? Relationships. Relationships are the lifeblood of the real estate business. Some of my best friends have come from being in the industry and I have created really good friendships outside of working relationships in the industry.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I set myself apart from other agents and brokers through mastering the art of consistently listing and selling high-level, multi-family, million-dollar investment buildings in the Boston area. You really have to know the ins and outs to thrive selling investment properties, and that is something I have been able to hang my hat on along with my track record. It is not just about understanding the market; it is about skillfully crafting and presenting pro formas while offering valuable strategies to clients and investors. I am also one of the most innovative and hardest-working brokers in the world.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Not being able to be at multiple places at once.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads? Find a way to stay visible while dishing out value — via social media marketing, video, podcast, etc. Visibility in a saturated space ultimately serves as a catalyst that will allow you to be seen as an authority in the real estate space.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment has been being able to open up my own real estate brokerage and consistently selling some of the best real estate investment properties in the city. This accomplishment ultimately allows me to give back to the areas I work in.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? “People Buy You.”

What’s your favorite meal in Boston? Legal Sea Food’s stuffed lobster.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? My favorite building would probably be every single building in the Seaport area. It has been amazing to see multiple buildings go up in an area that was once deserted.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? Having to find open windows to go into when keys are missing from building sites.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you? I do not wear a suit when going to the gym.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why? My favorite vacation spot is anywhere with a beach, sand and the sun!

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Consistently wake up, show up and suit up.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Notes.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media? Ryan Serhant, Earn Your Leisure, R. Donahue Peebles, Jr
