by Liz Hughes

The safest city in America is right here in New England, and two Massachusetts cities also made WalletHub’s 2023 Safest Cities in America list

WalletHub compared 182 cities across three metrics covering key safety indicators, including home and community safety, risk of a natural disaster and financial security. Cities were also compared across 41 key safety indicators.

In Massachusetts, both Boston and Worcester made the list, with Boston ranking No. 101 and Worcester 21st.

Boston also ranked 138th in home and community safety, 35th in natural disaster risk and 14th for financial safety.

Worcester came in 25th in home and community safety, 17th in natural disaster risk and 57th for financial safety.

But just over the state line in New Hampshire, Nashua topped the list as the safest city in the U.S. It also ranked eighth in home and community safety, 27th in natural disaster risk and eighth for financial safety.
