Affordable housing project approved for Mission Hill

by Liz Hughes

A new affordable housing project will bring 112 residential units to Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood.

The Boston Planning & Development Agency approved the project at its September meeting. It will consist of the construction of a 13-story, mixed-use, mixed-income residential building with ground-floor commercial space.

Seventy-five percent of the 112 units will be income-restricted, with the remaining being market rate.

The building, according to the filings, will be all-electric with rooftop solar. The transit-oriented project is located close to public transportation and will also have an onsite Bluebikes station.

The project also brings area improvements including widening the sidewalks and shortening the crosswalk at the Fenwood and Huntington Avenue intersection, making for a better pedestrian experience.
