The Boston Planning & Development Agency has approved the development of 1813 Dorchester Ave. to bring more housing to the area.
The mixed-use development will include a five-story, 30,524 square-foot building with 26 apartments, four of which will be income-restricted. It will also feature 2,204 square feet of ground-level retail space, a lobby, fitness center and interior bicycle storage. The BPDA approved the project at its Nov. 18 meeting.
Located at the corner of Dorchester Avenue and Banton Street, it is convenient to bus routes and the Ashmont MBTA station.
Allston’s Cambridge Street project changes approved
The BPDA also approved an update to a housing project at 449 Cambridge St. in Allston.
Originally approved in August of 2020 for 166 units, including 93 compact-living units, the developer is removing the 93 compact units and increasing the size of the others for a total count of 152 units. With the changes, the mix of units also was updated and will now include 79 studios, 46 one-bedroom units and 25 two-bedroom units, as well as two three-bedroom units.
There were no changes to the developer’s commitment to set aside 17% of the apartments as income-restricted.
