Massachusetts ranked second-best state to live in

Massachusetts is the second-best state to live in the U.S., according to WalletHub’s 2021 Best States to Live In list

WalletHub compared all 50 states across five metrics covering affordability, economy, education and wealth, quality of life and safety. States were also compared across 52 livability indicators, including housing costs, income growth, education rates and the quality of hospitals. 

Massachusetts topped the list in education, coming in at No. 1. It ranked fifth in quality of life and safety, 12th for economy and 45th for affordability. 

The Bay State was one of the best states for income growth, ranking fifth. It also ranked first for having the highest percentage of insured populations and fifth for having the lowest average weekly work hours.
