Greater Boston Association of Realtors holds annual awards breakfast

by Pamela Peterson

The Greater Boston Association of Realtors held their annual awards breakfast June 22 at the Venezia Restaurant in Boston. Throughout the breakfast, the GBAR honored members for their dedication to the association and industry. The honorees and awards included:

  • Carolyn Chodat received the Andrew F. Hickey Distinguished Service Award. Chodat, a broker at Classic Properties, Realtors in Midway, earned the award for her service to the GBAR and the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. Chodat previously served as the president of the GBREB Multiple Listing Service. The award honors recipients who are prominent leaders in real estate and have been a GBAR member for at least 15 years.
  • Tanisha Salmon was honored with the 2018 GBAR Good Neighbor Award for her community activism. She also received a $2,500 grant for her organization, Begin to Dream Again, Inc. Salmon founded the charity three years ago and it grew into an organization that provides support for women experiencing homelessness and poverty.
  • Deborah Frank was awarded the GBAR’s Affiliate Member of the Year Award, which acknowledges a member’s active involvement in GBAR programs. Frank, the vice president of mortgage sales at Chelsea’s Metro Credit Union, has been a GBAR affiliate for nearly two years and an advocate for the association. In the last year, Frank was an involved member while helping with networking events and teaching at seminars.
  • Jason Gell was named as the 2018 Greater Boston Realtor of the Year. Gell, broker and owner of Boston’s Luxury Properties in Brookline, has been involved with the Realtor Association for almost eight years. This year he served the GBAR as vice president and on the Massachusetts Association of Realtors Audit Committee. Gell has also been a member of the GBAR board of directors since 205 and served as a GBREB director since 2015.
