Agent Snapshot: Darlene Hadfield, Realtor/Sales Associate, Coldwell Banker

What was your first job in the realty industry? I started my real estate career in 2000 with a smaller family-owned company – DeWolfe Real Estate, which was purchased by Coldwell Banker.

Where did you grow up? My dad was in the Air Force, so I lived in many places, including the Philippines and Japan. He retired when I was 12. Both my parents grew up in Cohasset, and that was always “home” and it became our hometown when my parents built their first home in Cohasset.

Growing up, what did you want to be? A flight attendant (I loved traveling) or an attorney

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? My husband and I have a boat and we enjoy being out on the water in my free time! We live in a beautiful coastal community and it’s nice to be able to enjoy it!

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Tom Brady – to congratulate him on the fifth Superbowl win and ask what he does to get his mind focused!

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Home, and the dock where we keep our boat! 🙂

What do you love most about the industry? Buying and selling property is one of the biggest decisions anyone will make. To assist my clients with very important decisions is very rewarding. Closing day is usually a very happy experience that I enjoy!

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Follow up. My clients appreciate that I follow up with them. Whether it is feedback to a seller after a showing, or answering questions for a buyer, following up is key!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Timing is everything in real estate. Homes sell very quickly. You have to be ready to assist your clients 24/7, so they don’t miss out on any opportunities.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I am always ready to engage with people in a conversation about real estate. It’s a subject that everyone loves to talk about. Open houses are also a great way to meet people actively looking. In today’s technological world, you have to have an online presence as well!

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Becoming a successful real estate agent in a field that is very competitive

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “Winter Street” by Elin Hilderbrand

What is your favorite restaurant? Tosca in Hingham

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? Customs House Tower – I love the clock at night!

What kind of car do you drive? A Lexus SUV

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone – iPhone 6 Plus

What is your favorite city after Boston? Naples, Florida (warm weather) 🙂

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Continue to educate yourself and learn from the top agents!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? MLSpin- to access information immediately to share with my clients

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? I rarely if ever use Twitter.
