Agent Snapshot: Eve Dougherty, Senior Vice President, Compass, Boston

300x300What was your first job in the realty industry? I worked in a real estate law firm.

Where did you grow up? Boston.

Growing up, what did you want to be? An ambassador.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Breathe, yoga and run.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I just love Shelock Holmes novels. They are clever, witty and well written.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Cafe Chestnut, it’s a table and chairs set up in front of our house. Neighbors, tourist and friends all come by and say hi and usually sit to chat.

What do you love most about the industry? It’s never the same day twice. I have been in the business for over 20 years and I am still learning.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Besides showing up to listings in a red Vespa wearing heels, I always do the right thing for my clients and tell them what they need to hear, not want they want to hear.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Balancing family time and work time. It’s hard to turn off when clients need you.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Everywhere I go.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Raising children and being able to pay for their colleges of choice.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I am into Isabel Allende right now. I just finished Eva Luna and starting the Daughters of Fortune

What is your favorite restaurant? Depends on my mood, for fancy I like Sorellena, for fun I like Pier 6. My guilty pleasure is Popeyes.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? Gardner Museum, and also Cambridge MIT has some funky buildings that always make me smile

What kind of car do you drive? Black Mercedes GLA 250

What is your favorite city after Boston? New Orleans

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Maintain a sense of humor, have fun with it.
