Agent Snapshot: Maureen Roberts, Licensed RE Broker, Travis Realty, Inc., Billerica

profile_1a0d3620f3b09b4722aa1f1cdd913ff1_photofarWhat was your first job in the realty industry? My first job was as a sales associate at Century 21 Travis Realty, Inc.; we are in a unique position at this time as the only licensed real estate brokers in MA, NH, FL and now ME (as of June, 2016). We do conduct real estate brokerage in all these states.

Where did you grow up? Billerica, MA

Growing up, what did you want to be? An apparel designer

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Walk, work out, read

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Lady Gaga. Her unique sense of style and cutting edge ideas cause one to think out of the box, much like the deceased apparel-costume designer, Edith Head.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? On our boat when we have time, or camping

What do you love most about the industry? There is excitement and newness each day in the business, much like real estate

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? By offering a different product and level of customized service as a licensed real estate broker in multiple states. We are able to list a property in Massachusetts for a seller and then jump on a plane to sell the very same person a new home in Florida; this is a unique position as a real estate professional.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Juggling back and forth between multiple states

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I network online, and often meet new clients at a Starbucks, our virtual office conference room, or other trendy areas.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Taking and applying the values that my parents taught me as morals and applying them to all aspects of my personal and professional life in an appropriate manner; building from nothing and negative cash flow to where I am today.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “Spy” with Melissa McCarthy

What is your favorite restaurant? Anything seafood-related

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? The Prudential building, as it is a classic building

What kind of car do you drive? A Buick Regal

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone and sometimes paper

What is your favorite city after Boston? Cape Coral, FL

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Work hard, play hard; hard work pays off!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Zillow-Trulia or Listing Book

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Warren Buffet
