Michael A. Camarro Sr., Loan officer

OnTo Mortgage

A loan officer needs to be analytical, but few are also described as genuine, compassionate, empathetic and sincere. Yet these words are used to portray Michael A. Camarro Sr. “Although I’m in sales, I don’t consider myself a salesman but rather a problem solver,” he explains. “I treat my clients like family and am available as a resource throughout the process and beyond.” Camarro adds that he works to find the best path forward “even if it means not doing a loan at all.”

Specializing in conventional, FHA and VA loans, Camarro has been a loan officer for five years and is a first-time homebuyer and investment property specialist. A CPA by trade, Camarro remembers meeting a mortgage loan officer and deciding to try it as a career. “I thought the opportunity to work more closely with people and help them buy homes or refinance their current mortgages to save money or solve other financial problems really resonated with me,” he admits. “With my background in accounting and taxes, I felt I could offer a unique value proposition.”

Camarro considers his most satisfying professional accomplishment to be the time he helped a single mother refinance her mortgage, saving her about $500 a month at the same time her child support fell by the same amount. Another source of pride was securing a cash-out refinance for an older woman on a fixed income. “The challenge was trying to qualify her on a relatively small income,” Camarro describes. “I worked directly with her financial planner, got creative and figured out a way forward.”

The treasurer of Innovative Business Networking Group and a member of ProVisors Networking Group (Wakefield division), Camarro insists he has the best team of professionals backing him. “My company, OnTo Mortgage, is different. We are a small, scrappy boutique operation with little overhead,” he points out. “So not only are we exceedingly competitive when it comes to rate and program options, but the service we provide is unmatched.”
