With both her parents having worked as contractors, Martha Toti always had an interest in real estate. But she didn’t pursue it right away.
Toti, a sales associate with Coldwell Banker, worked for five years in finance at Morgan Stanley before realizing it wasn’t the career for her. “I wanted to sell something more tangible,” she says. “Be more in control of my career and time.” After taking time off and moving to Vail, Colorado, where she met her husband, Toti moved to Beacon Hill and earned her real estate license. At Coldwell Banker, she has closed 150-plus transactions worth a total of more than $100 million in the past five years.
In 2018, Toti reached a milestone and broke $30 million in sales. “I was working hard year after year but wasn’t growing at the rate I thought I should,” she recalls. So she took a leap and hired a full-time transaction specialist. “It has allowed me to focus more on building my business and supporting my client relationships to grow the business to higher levels.”
Applying her background in finance to real estate, Toti understands what properties are worth and what clients can and should purchase. “I am real and direct,” she says. “It allows my clients to feel like they can trust my guidance, suggestions and market knowledge.”
Ranked among the top 1 percent of Coldwell Banker agents nationwide from 2016 through 2018, Toti also earned the firm’s 2018 International President’s Premier Award and ranked 35th among its more than 4,000 New England agents. Moreover, she appeared on Real Trends’ 2018 Best Real Estate Professionals list. But Toti is most proud of being a successful working mother with three young daughters. “It’s not always perfect,” she says. “But I am always learning, working and striving for balance.”
