What was your most interesting job before going into lending? When I was in college, I owned a DJ company. Over my tenure, I DJ’d roughly 150 weddings in and around the Greater Boston area. It was an incredibly fulfilling profession.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I play soccer in the BSSC (Boston Ski & Sports Club) at “The TRACK” at the New Balance building. I’ve been playing for roughly 10 years and it’s just enough competition to scratch the itch and relieve some stress.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Would love to meet Mark Cuban. He thinks about problems differently than most. Even with a quick 15-minute discussion, I feel like I could absorb quite a bit of information.
Where is Boston’s best-kept secret? Outside of Boston Agent Magazine?! I love Hopewell in Allston, it’s an awesome spot with shuffleboard, games and really impressive food. Hole-in-the-wall type places like that give the community a watering hole that brings everyone together. (Awesome energy for Bruins games)
What do you love most about the industry? We know that the banks are strained and we really appreciate being able to increase inventory in an inventory-barren market like Boston.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job? It can be easy to “fall in love” with a deal and oftentimes developers can get too attached to the project. Therefore it can be challenging to say “no” to a deal that your developer partner really appreciates because of the financials.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? Eric Thomas… if you haven’t listened, I would start immediately.
What’s your favorite meal in Boston? Big steak guy, so I lean toward Del’s but I’m still on the hunt for the best local Ramen!
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? Too easy! The Old State House!
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? A floor caved in while walking a site for potential acquisition. Needless to say, we didn’t end up purchasing…
What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you? In college, I was a high jumper and competed on a national scale.
What’s your favorite vacation spot and why? I’m a huge wine lover, so I would say Sonoma/Napa. The Mrs. and I appreciate Sonoma Square but Napa certainly has the best wines.
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the lending industry? Trust your gut…
