Boston named one of the best places to live in the U.S.

by Liz Hughes

Boston has once again been named one of the best places to live in the United States.

U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2022-2023 report ranks 150 of the most populous areas in the country based on quality of life, job market, value of living there and people’s desire to live there.

Boston made the top 20, ranking No. 18 on the list with an overall score of 6.6. The publication described the area as feeling like a small town with all the perks of city life that’s also historic but ever-evolving. Bean Town had a score of 7.2 for quality of life and 5.2 for value.

Huntsville, Alabama, topped this year’s list, followed by Colorado Springs, Colorado, at No. 2, Green Bay, Wisconsin, ranked third, and Boulder, Colorado, and San Jose, California, rounded out the top five.

Boston wasn’t the only Bay State city to make this year’s list. Worcester ranked No. 69 with an overall score of 6.2, with a score of 6.9 for quality of life and 6.3 for value.

Springfield was also featured, coming in at No. 117 with an overall score of 5.9 with a score of 6.8 for quality of life and 5.7 for value.

Boston is not only a great place to live, it’s also a great place to retire, according to the publication.

In October, U.S. News & World Report ranked Boston 43rd on its Best Places to Retire list
