Gibson Sotheby’s expands to Cape Cod

by Michael M. Mazek

Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty announced it would expand into the Cape Cod market by bringing offices of oldCape Sotheby’s International Realty under its umbrella. Gibson Sotheby’s would assume ownership and branding of oldCape’s six offices around Barnstable County. Former general manager of oldCape Kenneth Hager will manage the six Cape Cod offices for Gibson Sotheby’s.

“We are thrilled to add this group to our organization as part of our long-term strategy of integrating the Cape Cod-area markets with Greater Boston,” said Gibson Sotheby’s president and co-owner Paul McGann in a press release. “Joining forces with oldCape Sotheby’s International Realty allows us to satisfy a substantial market need for additional locations to effectively serve our client base.”

With the acquisition, Gibson Sotheby’s now counts more than 300 agents working in 17 offices throughout the Boston area and Eastern Massachusetts. According to the release announcing the acquisition, Gibson Sotheby’s is Boston’s largest independently-owned real estate firm, and as of July 31 has surpassed $1 billion in total sales for 2018.
