This Week in Boston Real Estate: Potential ferry launch, Amazon progress and more

A new ferry from Lovejoy Wharf near North Station to Seaport could take to the water in the fall in an effort to reduce street congestion and ease commutes, the Boston Herald reported. A group of private companies and the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority are backing the project as more advocates voice support for a “blue highway” to take advantage of the city’s waterways and harbor.

In other new Boston real estate news:

  • William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance is the first-ever the Official Realtor of the Boston Red Sox. The multi-year deal will include advertising, sponsorship of broadcasts and special promotions.
  • The Boston Globe recently published renderings of Amazon’s new Seaport District office building, where 2,000 new employees will be based. The proposal, from WS Development and architecture firm Gensler has received permits from the Boston Planning and Development Agency and now must be approved by the Boston Civic Design Commission.
  • Boston Real Estate Times recently announced its Boston Developers Summit, which will be April 26 at Newton Marriott Hotel in Newton. The summit will include panelists, networking events and more.
  • Westchester Modular Homes recently expanded to greater Boston in an effort to boost the metro area’s housing inventory. Its new office is in Wellesley.
