Every week, we ask a real estate professional for their Short List, a collection of tips and recommendations on an essential topic in real estate. This week, we talked with Samantha Jason, Associate Partner of The Residential Group at William Raveis Real Estate, who shared her tips for servicing the needs of first-time homebuyers.
3. Set them up with a great team. I know how overwhelming a first time home purchase can be, so it’s my goal to make the process as smooth as possible. One of the best ways to do that is to make sure that your buyer client has a trusted team of real estate professionals working with them throughout the transaction. I always try and recommend qualified lenders, attorneys and inspectors that I have worked with in the past. The communication and trust in each other helps make for a smooth transaction.
2. Make yourself available. First time homebuyers always have lots of questions when it comes to purchasing a home. It’s important to make yourself available and remember that sometimes the best times for clients to talk to you is after normal business hours. Just be sure to set expectations and also find out what their preferred method of communication is (call, text, email etc).
1. Be honest, knowledgeable and accountable. It’s our job to guide a buyer client from start to finish through a real estate transaction all while making the process as seamless as possible. Buyers look to their agents to provide honest opinions, recommend qualified professionals (ie. inspector or contractor) and support them through any hiccups along the way. I also always want my clients to be a client for life, so I try and go above and beyond to make sure that my clients are happy and that their needs are met. Always remember to provide excellent customer service.
