Patrick J. Murphy IV, Esq., Real Estate Lawyer

Harris & Murphy LLP

Growing up in a family of Realtors and loan originators in Belmont, Patrick Murphy couldn’t help but develop an interest in real estate. Being involved in his family’s multiple properties from Belmont to the South Shore was a way of life, and as his interest grew, so did his knowledge of those market areas — as well as the Cape and the North Shore — through college, law school and marriage.

For the last 24 years, Murphy has combined his legal acumen with his real estate knowledge and his desire to help others as a real estate attorney, guiding clients through complex documents and issues large and small en route to closing. It seems to be a perfect fit. “I enjoy working in real estate because people are typically happy that they are buying or selling a home or are saving money with a refinance,” he shares. “It is not the same in other areas of the law.”

As much as Murphy enjoys his work, his clients and referral partners enjoy working with him, too. Known for his responsiveness and ability to connect with others, he is never too busy to take or make a call to answer a question or solve a problem, even well after closing. He also keeps things simple and injects a little humor into the process so clients can easily understand what they are agreeing to when they sign — and, hopefully, laugh a bit along the way.

His three young children and his extensive volunteer commitments to local youth sports keep Murphy busy away from the office. This Belmont Youth Hockey Association board member and district representative coaches six hockey teams and three lacrosse teams.
