Time Out magazine has named Boston one of the top cities in America

The publication ranked the 10 best cities in the country in its annual survey.

Time Out created the list by taking the pulse of city living from those who live there. This year, the publication gathered insights from more than 18,500 individuals who shared their thoughts on everything from food to nightlife to culture, affordability and happiness. 

Boston ranked No. 8, not just as a chapter in history books as the birthplace of the American Revolution but also for its walkability and boasting “a seamless blend of yesteryear and modern day for everyone to enjoy.”

It noted the city’s unique dining and shopping spots housed in historic brownstones, world-class art museums and easy access to beaches, parks, whale-watching tours and the city’s HarborWalk. 

Beantown’s culinary scene also got top billing, along with the fact that many firsts happened here including the nation’s first public park, public beach and subway system. 

Of course they couldn’t forget to mention all of Boston’s various neighborhoods which make the city even more unique. 

New York City topped this year’s list, followed by New Orleans and Chicago. Los Angeles and Washington D.C. rounded out the top five.
