Million-dollar median homes by 2030 in Boston?

by Timothy Inklebarger

Boston’s median home sales price has skyrocketed over the last decade, and a new study by PropertyShark.com projects that at the current rate, home prices could jump from $625,000 in 2019 to more than $1 million by 2030.

The report analyzed all sales in the Boston metro area between 2009 and 2019 and calculated the median sales price for each neighborhood.

East Boston, Roxbury and Mattapan were identified as hot neighborhoods, where the median more than doubled.

Bay Village, where the median sales price is $1.6 million, maintained its position as the most expensive neighborhood in Boston. Home prices there surged 83% over the last decade, setting a course for the median to reach $3 million by 2030.

That’s followed by Bay Village and the Downtown-Financial District, which are both projected to surpass $2 million over the next decade.
