Kevin Gillis began working in the industry during college, before graduating from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst. He started his career as a loan processor and learned the industry from the ground up.
Vice president of mortgage lending at Rate, Gillis has over 32 years of experience and is recognized for his speed, high level of service and consistent availability. “I pride myself on my relationships with clients and referral partners. I always return calls and am accessible after hours and on weekends,” he says. “I take the time to give detailed answers late at night or send a preapproval at halftime during my son’s football game.”
Gillis specializes in first-time homebuyers and complex jumbo loans. He gets to know his clients and works with them to develop budgets and monthly payments they’re comfortable with. “I take the stress out of the process and give my clients the same advice I would give my family members and friends,” he shares.
Gillis has been named a Top 1% Mortgage Originator by the Scotsman Guide since 2008 and been a member of Rate’s Chairman’s Circle and President’s Club since 2020. His extensive knowledge of Rate’s different products has been key to his success. He explores every possible avenue to ensure he gets the best deal for his clients. “I have borrowers come to me that were denied by other lenders all the time,” Gillis says. “We move quickly to develop creative solutions and get the loans closed on time.”
When not closing loans, Gillis enjoys golfing, skiing, cooking and spending time with his wife and four kids.
