Last month, Boston Agent Magazine reported on a new benchmark in housing costs for the city: that homes in three neighborhoods now go for $3,000 a square foot. Now, there is a new indicator to show just how pricey Boston has gotten.

There are nine Boston neighborhoods were home prices average at least $1,000 per square foot, according to the neighborhood housing data firm NeighborhoodX. Those neighborhoods include: Seaport, Back Bay, Bay Village, Beacon Hill, Fort Point, Kenmore/Audobon, South End, Financial District and North End.

NeighborhoodX crunched the numbers to determine the low and high end of each Boston neighborhood, as well as the per-square-foot average. City wide, housing costs ranged from $170-persquare-foot in Port Norfolk to $3,857 in Back Bay, Boston’s most expensive neighborhood in June.
