The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced Massachusetts Energy Savings Finder, a digital tool designed to help homeowners and renters find ways to lower energy costs and save on energy-efficient home improvements.
Using the tool, Massachusetts residents can find out whether they qualify for clean energy incentives, rebates and tax credits for upgrades like weatherization, heating and cooling electrification, solar panels and energy-efficient appliances.
The state government partnered with Massachusetts Community Climate Bank (MCCB), Rewiring America and Abode Energy Management to develop the service.
Creators hope the tool will eliminate confusion about the various incentives and rebates offered to Massachusetts residents based on location and income.
“Residents in different zip codes qualify for different rebates, and this new tool will help residents get support to upgrade their homes no matter where they live,” Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll said in a press release. “Our Energy Affordability Agenda will help more residents get access to energy efficiency services, knocking big costs off their bills.”
A hypothetical Mattapan homeowner could use the Savings Finder tool for each home improvement, the Healey-Driscoll Administration explained, like a $750 incentive for a new hot water heater or a $75 rebate for Energy Star certified windows from Mass Save. The tool also informs users about any additional federal tax credits available for the same improvements.
“No matter who you are or where you live, there are clean energy incentives available to you, and this new tool will make it easy to identify them,” said Maggie Super Church, director of policies and programs at the MCCB.
