MAR past-president Paul Yorkis receives Fair Housing Champion Award

by Liz Hughes

Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® past-president Paul Yorkis was honored recently by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) as a recipient of the organization’s Fair Housing Champion Award.

Yorkis is one of three winners of the National Association of REALTORS® Fair Housing Champion Awards honored during NAR’s Fair Housing Month event, “At What Price? Overcoming Barriers to Homeownership.”

The award, sponsored by Realtor.com, is given to Realtors who go above and beyond in supporting their buyers and communities facing housing discrimination and who advocate for accessible and affordable housing opportunities. The winners receive a $5,000 prize they can dedicate to a housing-related nonprofit organization of their choice.

Yorkis was recognized for advocating the Massachusetts government to translate standard real estate’s forms into languages other than English.

NAR President Kevin Sears says NAR’s mission to promote the growth of prosperous, diverse and inclusive communities across the United States is more resilient than ever.

“Affordability and fair housing remain the most significant challenges confronting the real estate industry today, and I am immensely proud of the dedication displayed by our award recipients in expanding access to homeownership,” he said. “Their leadership has paved the way for positive change, inspiring others to join in our collective efforts.”
