Calling all foodies, music enthusiasts and art lovers! Boston’s the place for you, according to a new study that names Boston America’s coolest city.
From murals to hidden-gem eateries to a young population, Boston’s got all the qualities of a hip metro, a study from online gaming company Betway finds.
Using data from Ticketmaster, Tripadvisor and other sources, researchers at Betway tabulated the number of “cool” locations in cities across America, considering those numbers alongside the median age of residents. Boston topped the list, boasting the lowest median age and a wide array of cool attractions.
Beantown residents enjoy 376 restaurants, bars and cafes classified as “hidden gems.” That’s 59 hidden gems per 100,000 people.
Plus, Betway found over 500 vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free restaurants in Boston, meaning there’s options for everyone.
For the artistically inclined, Boston offers 114 street art murals scattered across local neighborhoods. Music fans will appreciate the city’s 18 record stores and over 1,000 upcoming music events.
Finally, Boston claims six tattoo parlors, all great last stops after a wild night out.
“As a renowned hub for education and progress, home to institutions like Harvard and MIT, the city attracts a young, forward-thinking crowd,” researchers said. “It’s this distinctive mix of heritage, innovation and cultural flair that firmly secures Boston’s spot as the coolest city in America.”
