Applications open on July 1 for 52 New Street, a multifamily development in Cambridge with 106 affordable apartments.

Designed with families in mind by developer Just a Start, 52 New Street features one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Four are wheelchair accessible, and two offer sensory modifications.

All residents will have access to amenities including a patio, fitness room, community room and play area. The building also features secure bike storage and 37 covered parking spots.

Acquired in 2020, the project was the first permitted under the Affordable Housing Overlay from the City of Cambridge. Designed by RODE architects and built by Callahan Construction Managers, the development meets Passive House international standards for energy efficiency.

“Our largest new construction project ever, this development will accommodate families of many sizes,” Just a Start shared on its website. “In collaboration with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the City of Cambridge, MassHousing and our development partners, we’re fostering a brighter future for 106 families in a city full of opportunity, showcasing our unwavering dedication to ensuring access to equitable housing.”
