Peabody Properties has begun accepting applications for the Residences at St. James. The new age-restricted, affordable housing development will open in late 2025 in Salem’s historic McIntire District.
Households with at least one member aged 62 or older qualify to apply for one of 32 units, including studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments.
The Residences offers proximity to downtown Salem and MBTA bus and commuter rail stations. Units feature energy-efficient appliances and access to laundry facilities, an outdoor patio and on-site parking. Heat, electricity and water are included in monthly rent.
“We are excited to open applications for The Residences at St. James,” Melissa Fish-Crane, principal and CEO of The Peabody Companies, said in a press release. “This project not only preserves the historic charm of the former schools, but also strengthens the community by offering modern, efficient and affordable housing to meet the needs of households with at least one senior member.”
The development fills the restored former St. James School building.
