Five Bay State communities make country’s priciest ZIP code list

by Liz Hughes

Five Massachusetts communities are once again some of America’s most expensive ZIP codes, according to a new PropertyShark report.

PropertyShark analyzed residential transactions between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30 to determine the 121 most expensive ZIP codes in the country this year. This year’s list is more than 100 due to several price ties, the publication said.

One Bay State community grabbed the No. 1 spot in New England and No. 33 on the list — Nantucket’s 02554, where the median sale price for a home is $2.9 million.

While Boston’s Back Bay missed the list for the second year in a row, Beacon Hill made it once again, taking the No. 2 spot regionally and No. 54 overall, with a $2.5 million median sale price.

Three other Massachusetts communities were also on the list.

Wellesley Hills’ 02481 ranked 62nd, up from No. 84 last year with a median sale price of $2,301,000. Weston’s 02493 ranked 79th, dropping nine spots from 2023 at $2.1 million, and Waban ranked 95th, falling from last year where it ranked No. 71 at $1,949,000.

The priciest ZIP code in the U.S. was Atherton (94027) in San Mateo County, California, where the median sale price is $7.9 million, followed by Sagaponack (11962) in the Hamptons on New York’s Long Island, where the median sale price stands at $5.95 million.
