The Boston Planning & Development Agency has approved the adaptive reuse of the Jamaica Plains Landmark Blessed Sacrament Church building into a mixed-use affordable housing development.
A letter of intent was filed by developer Pennrose in August seeking to create the development at 361 Centre St. site in Hyde Square.
Once complete, the project will include 55 income-restricted housing units as well as a community room operated by the Hyde Square Task Force.
The project includes preserving Blessed Sacrament’s historic building with a mix of studios and one- and two-bedroom units. It will also include a new accessible plaza space along the front of the building and add new lighting and landscaping to the area, as well as 55 bicycle parking spaces and a Bluebikes station.
