Coronavirus cancellations by Realtor associations

by Kasey Chronis

Greater Boston Association of Realtors and the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors have announced cancelations and postponements in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Boston Globe reported on Friday that 108 cases of coronavirus have been reported across the state and more than 1,000 people have been quarantined.

The Greater Boston Association of Realtors announced that it is postponing its Young Professionals Network Kickoff Event on March 26. GBAR has also released a guide for Realtors on the coronavirus, which includes frequently asked questions, info on mortgage forbearance options for owners affected and preventative measures to curb the spread of the virus.

The Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors also announced it is canceling all in-person classes and events until mid-April. This includes the Cape Cod Real Estate Conference in April.

“While there are no reported cases on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket, we feel the need to take precautionary steps to protect our members, instructors, and speakers,” the CCIAOR announcement noted. “While we are disappointed to cancel and postpone our upcoming programs, our member’s and staff’s health and safety are our top priorities when making decisions under these circumstances.”
