Kems Corporation has submitted a review application to the Boston Planning & Development Agency to build a five-story, 30-unit condominium building in South Boston.
The 39,750-square-foot condo building would take the place of an automotive repair garage and trolley storage facility at 515-519 E. 2nd St.
“Consistent with Mayor Walsh’s 2030 Housing Plan, it will also help to address the shortage of market-rate and affordable housing, by complying with the City’s Inclusionary Development Policy for the creation of on-site income-restricted units for residential homeownership,” the company said in its application.
The company also noted that it has met with nearby property owners seeking input on the proposal. The meetings prompted Kems to reduce the proposed number of units from 40 to 30.
Units will range from one to three bedrooms with dedicated HVAC systems and an open-concept living space with 9-foot ceilings.
The application noted that some units will have their own patios, balconies or roof decks.
