The best high schools in the Boston area

The majority of Massachusetts’ best schools are in the Boston area, according to the 2018 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.

The state’s best school is Boston Latin School, a public school in the heart of the city that is especially diverse and has a robust Advanced Placement curriculum. It is also the highest ranked local school on the nationwide ranking, coming in at No. 48 in the country.

Boston Latin Academy is another city public school to make the list, coming in as the sixth best high school in the state and the 257th best in the country, according to the report. The John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science is the third and final Boston public school to make the list.
