More than 21,000 readers voted in Curbed Boston’s annual real estate awards, and the building of the year is Boston East, which got 45 percent of the vote. The 200-unit apartment building in East Boston is expected to wrap up construction any time. Residents of the development will have access to some unique amenities, like a kayak and paddle-board launch, a dog spa, a Hubway dock and on-site Zipcars, according to Curbed.

Elsewhere in Boston real estate news this week:

  • Two autobody shops in Dorchester will be transformed into a five-story complex with 36 apartments and ground-floor retail and art gallery space. The city zoning board approved the project on Dec. 12, according to Curbed.
  • Millennium Tower continues to top the list of Boston’s most expensive sales. This week, the city’s priciest purchase was for a three-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath condo for $6.5 million, according to the Boston Globe.
  • The Boston skyline is known for its high spine, a ribbon of skyscrapers, and a new building will extend the row of buildings. The Boston Planning & Development Agency on Dec. 14 approved a 32-story apartment tower that, along with 426 apartments, would be the new home of Huntington Theatre Co. The $290 million development is on track to begin construction in 2018, the Globe reported.
