Agent Snapshot: Ginny Allaby, Realtor, Hammond Residential, Metrowest

Ginny Allaby

Ginny Allaby is a Realtor with Hammond Residential

What was your first job in the realty industry? I was a licensed sales agent for Century 21 in New Hampshire in 1994.

Where did you grow up? Fayetteville, N.C.

Growing up, what did you want to be? Famous!

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I take walks with my dog to clear my mind and a long warm bath before bed to completely remove stress.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Richard Branson. He epitomizes for me the perfect blend of business professional, adventurer and lover of life. Finding that balance is not always easy so I would enjoy some pointers from someone who seems to have achieved that in his life.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Fenway Park and Yawkey Way when the Red Sox are playing!

What do you love most about the industry? Making familys’ dreams of home ownership come true. There is nothing like handing a client the keys on closing day. It makes everything so worthwhile and gives me a good feeling that carries me on through the next deal.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I am very personable and I think the fact that I connect easily with all types of people gives me an edge. I have a vast knowledge of the areas I service and use social media to not only promote my properties, my name and my brokerage, but also to get clients more involved in the communities with fun activities. The majority of my business is from referrals.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Telling a client their offer was not accepted.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Everywhere! I volunteer, I attend social events, I attend business networking events, I visit local businesses and leave my cards or marketing materials. I use email campaigns to reach out to past clients and my sphere of influence for referrals. Every day affords new opportunities to gain new clients.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My family is my greatest accomplishment. My husband and I have been married for 27 years and together we have five very hard working, well-balanced beautiful children/young adults.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The Song of Ice and Fire series (aka Game of Thrones) by George R.R. Martin.

What is your favorite restaurant? Restaurante Villa Francesca in Boston’s north end, and Bistro Limoncello Restaurante in Northborough, Mass.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? The Custom House Tower. I photograph it every visit I take to Boston. It is a wonderful show piece of how old Boston has kept it’s beauty and history while still moving forward and being progressive.

What kind of car do you drive? A Ford Explorer.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone and paper.

What is your favorite city after Boston? Charleston, S.C.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Find a trustworthy mentor and learn everything you can!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Hammond Residential RE.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Richard Branson, Curbed Boston, Dalai Lama, WSJ.
