Coldwell Banker Realty honors Cindi Lee McTiernan for $206K donation to first responders, teachers

by Liz Hughes

Coldwell Banker Realty has honored real estate agent Cindi Lee McTiernan for her support of local first responders and educators.

A Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty’s Norwell-Hanover Regional Office, McTiernan, a Marshfield resident, has donated $206,000 from her commissions to Homes for Heroes. The organization was established after Sept. 11 and provides “Hero Rewards” to EMS, law enforcement, military, health care professionals and teachers. When they buy or sell a home with a Homes for Heroes affiliate, they receive a “Hero Rewards” check.

McTiernan donates 30% of her commissions to clients enrolled in the program; the average client receives approximately $4,000. Her goal for this year is to help 50 heroes and give back at least $120,000.

“I was inspired to begin participating in Homes for Heroes because of my father, John ‘Spanky’ McTiernan, who was a Quincy, Massachusetts police officer for 34 years before his passing,” said McTiernan. “This is my way of honoring him and the first responders who put their lives on the line to protect our communities, as well as the teachers doing the important work of educating our children.”

Kara Flanagan, branch vice president of the Coldwell Banker Realty Norwell-Hanover regional office, said McTiernan embodies the Coldwell Banker Realty spirit of giving back.

“Since she began participating in Homes for Heroes, she has personally contributed to assisting 60 clients who work as emergency personnel and teachers,” Flanagan said. “I am happy to commend Cindi Lee for her generosity in supporting her Homes for Heroes clients.”
