Agent Snapshot: Philip Raccuia, Jr., Sales Agent, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Warren Residential, South End

Phillip Raccuia Jr.

Phillip Raccuia Jr. is a sales agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Warren Residential working in South End.

What was your first job in the realty industry? I was an assistant to a top producer at a suburban real estate agency.

Where did you grow up? SAUGUS! It’s about 15 minutes north of Boston by car. It’s close enough to the city and just far enough away to have a suburban feel. A lot of Italians too; can’t ya tell by my last name!

Growing up, what did you want to be? Famous – for what, I don’t know. However, I always liked houses, decor and landscaping. So…here I am.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I call a friend and talk about non-sense. It helps take your mind off what’s bothering you. Even if its only for a few minutes.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Donald Trump. I want to pick his brain on how he negotiates and leads.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? The South End! It’s where I live and work. It’s a cool place with cool people.

What do you love most about the industry? You learn something new every day. Every transaction is different, every client is different.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I would say I distinguish myself through my personality. Clients have told me after working with me that they felt like they were working with a friend they’ve known for years.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Pleasing all of the people, all of the time. It’s impossible but I try my best.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I network wherever I happen to be. I like to talk with people so it just basically goes from there.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Every real estate transaction is a great accomplishment. I feel lucky and flattered that people choose to work with me when there’s so many others out there.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I just watched the Twilight movies because I just read the books. I’m late, I know. I wanted to see if the movies did they books justice. I thought the books were better.

What is your favorite restaurant? This isn’t even a fair question. I’m big on meat so lets say Del Frisco’s. Their food is great and it’s a gorgeous restaurant with a great view.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? Trinity Church looks really pretty in the spring time with the green grass and flowers around it.

What kind of car do you drive? Jeep. After this past winter I think everyone needs some sort of SUV.

Smartphone or paper? Both. Usually paper (because my Dad is old-school and I get that from him) but smartphone when paper and pen aren’t handy.

What is your favorite city after Boston? In Massachusetts: Provincetown. It’s small, fun and beachy.

Out of Massachusetts: Venice, because it’s gorgeous.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Shadow other agents, you will learn something.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Dotloop makes doing business so easy.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? I never got into Twitter. I should start.
