Berkshire Hathaway Commonwealth acquires ePlace Real Estate

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate recently acquired the largest independent brokerage in Cambridge, ePlace Real Estate.

Under the leadership of Bill Scott and Denise Price, the ePlace team of 35 agents cleared nearly $75 million in sales volume last year. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate said in a press release the ePlace Real Estate team will move into Berkshire Hathaway’s office in Central Square.

“Cambridge is such an important market for us and now we have a dream team in the market,” George Patsio, a founding partner at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate, said. Patsio said with the ePlace Real Estate team onboard, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices is excited to expand into Cambridge, Somerville and Boston’s western suburbs.

Scott, founder and president of ePlace Real Estate, said the company shares the two companies share the same ideals. “After a decade in the business as an independent, ePlace as an organization is health, unique and primed for growth,” Scott said in a press release. “In Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate we gain an alliance with the same values and commitments we nurtured in our own organization over the past decade.”

Price said working with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices is an iconic brand. “We believe the brand will provide us even more distinction in the marketplace,” Price said. “Bostonians will understand the marketing appeal, reputation and financial stability of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.”

The transaction gives Berkshire Hathaway more than 500 agents and 22 offices in the greatest Boston area. In 2017, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices generated $1.4 billion in real estate volume on 2,900 units. The real estate firm is also the third-largest brokerage for sales volume in the Boston area.

Gino Blefari, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, complimented Scott, Price and their ePlace team. “ePlace Realty has been a terrific and respected operator in Cambridge for years,” Blefari said.
