MyStyle: Lara Shuqom, International Real Estate Consultant & Realtor, Compass

by Boston Agent

Number of years in real estate: 10

Describe your look: Classic with a Modern twist, Bold colors and cuts blended with  elegant silhouettes.

What do you consider a “fashion don’t”? Flip flops. They don’t look good on anyone outside of a pool/beach setting. A fashionable sandal is a different story, but flip flops are a don’t in my book.

What is your favorite piece of clothing and why? Blazers, primarily in bright colors. Bringing a little POC or “pop of color” to my day-to-day schedule makes a difference in not only my mood, but also to my clients. A blend of professional and a little fashion flavor can brighten up any rainy/snowy Boston day.

What do you consider a must-have accessory? Bangles. I’m a big fan of stacking bracelets, and I always mix metals. I tend to wear long necklaces and statement earrings, so bangles complete the outfit to feel truly “accessorized” yet casual.

Where are your favorite places to shop? Banana Republic, Crush, Nordstrom, 2nd Time Around, TJMaxx, Tobey Grey. I’m a big bargain/sale hunter for designer/high-end pieces.

What, besides your wardrobe, completes your look? My platinum blonde hair – it’s my signature.

What is in your bag/brief case? Compass moleskin, iPhone, 5+ kinds of lipstick/lipgloss, perfume, wallet, brush, umbrella, iPad mini, headphones, car keys, business cards, tape measure and peanut m&m’s for a rainy day.

My closet is full of… Shoes! I’m a shoe addict, specifically heels. I’m the Realtor walking around Boston’s cobblestone streets in heels, but I always wear comfortable ones that make me feel like Wonder Woman on the job.

What is your style advice for other people in the industry? We are in the relationship business, and we interact with people all day everyday. Having a signature or stand-out “look” by dressing up for the job brings both professionalism and creativity to our business. I even have brokers ask where I purchased a particular piece of my wardrobe during showings, and in turn, we create a relationship and bond outside of work.
